Colby Covington Says Jorge Masvidal Fractured His Tooth After Attacking Him in a Restaurant
Colby Covington claims that fellow UFC star Jorge Masvidal punched him in the face after dinner in Miami.
Police reports obtained by TMZ state that Covington was dining at Papi Steak in Miami with the YouTubers Nelk Boys when Masvidal caught him exiting the restaurant and "ran up to him from his left and hit him twice with a closed fist."
Masvidal was defeated by Covington during UFC 272 at the beginning of March after the match was decided unanimously in his favor. Masvidal could now face felony battery charges following the authorities' response.
Masvidal also posted a video on Twitter where he tagged Covington and said the fighter shouldn't have disrespected him.
“I’m calling this the ‘Show Your Face Challenge,’” he said in the video. “What’s up, I’m from Dade County. If you talk that shit, you have to back it up. That’s how my city rolls.”
On Tuesday morning, the fighter appeared to issue another warning to Covington. “Good morning to everyone except those that think talking about someone’s kids is cool,” he tweeted.
Covington is also alleged to have suffered an abrasion on his wrist. Police are investigating exactly what happened during the altercation, and Masvidal is currently listed as a suspect.
