Phife Dawg's estate has announced that they will release a posthumous album in honor of the legendary rapper on the sixth anniversary of his death.
Phife's official Instagram account shared the news about his posthumous project, Forever, along with the cover art and track list.
“This has been a long time coming,” the caption reads. “Finally, on March 22, 2022 we release Phife ‘Forever’, the album to the world. For now, enjoy the cover art work and the track listing/credits. Longer caption on album drop date. #rootswemadeit”
Busta Rhymes, Redman, Rapsody, Q-Tip, Maseo of De La Soul, Dwele, and others will feature on Forever. Phife's estate released "Nutshell Part 2" featuring Busta and Redman on the fifth anniversary of his death. Forever will include the track, which also came with a music video.
“Even though the family, the estate, and myself are completing Forever, I am so proud of Phife on this one,” Dion Liverpool—who is also known as DJ Rasta Root—told Complex at the time about the posthumous album. “He always spoke about giving back to his fans, they were very important to him. I know he would want them to have this album as an extension of himself.”
Phife Dawg's posthumous album Forever will be released on March 22.
