Dame Dash Reacts to Kanye West Being Pulled From The Grammys: ‘We Make Our Own Grammys’
Dame Dash has responded to the issue between Kanye West and the Grammys, saying he and Ye "don't give a fuck" about the awards show.
TMZ spoke with Dame at LAX on Tuesday, asking her about reports that Ye was dropped from this year's lineup. “Kanye don’t give a fuck about the Grammys,” he responded, “We make our own Grammys.”
In his later remarks, Dash discussed institutions of this type more generally and criticized the associated "rules" that, he said, shouldn't concern Ye or anyone else.
“I’m not trying to fit into somebody else’s system,” Dash explained. “So we just create our own so we ain’t gotta worry about nobody else’s rules. … It’s not for them to judge who’s hot. It’s for us. They really shouldn’t be giving us the awards. We should be giving them the awards. They gotta respect our culture.”
Afterwards, Dash was asked a question focused more on Ye, and he further clarified his stance on the issue by emphasizing his own decision to skip the Grammys. “I don’t get into all that, bro,” he told the paparazzo. “You know what I’m saying? When we got nominated, I didn’t even go. I don’t give a fuck about the Grammys. I’m not trying to fit in.”
As reported this month that Ye's rep endorsed a separate Blast report stating the reason for his allegedly rescinded Grammys invitation was “concerning online behavior.” Ye was suspended from Instagram for violating the platform's "hate speech, harassment, and bullying" policies.
At this year's ceremony, Ye, who already has 22 Grammys to his name, could have won multiple awards, including Album of the Year for his 2021 album Donda. A Recording Academy representative has been contacted for additional comment about Ye's involvement.
As fans have been quick to recall amid the current news cycle, Ye urinated on a Grammy award back in 2020 and shared a video of the moment on Twitter.
