Deshaun Watson is being traded to the Cleveland Browns after requesting a trade from the Houston Texans in January 2021 and being involved in a sexual misconduct case.
Watson, who reportedly will receive a fully guaranteed five-year, $230 million contract, shared a photo of himself in a Browns jersey on Instagram to announce the news. “Cleveland, LETSSSS GOOOO!! 😤 #DawgPound Ready To Work!” Watson captioned.
In the days leading up to the trade, several teams, including the Falcons, Saints, and Panthers, held trade discussions with the quarterback.
It's important to note that teams did not pursue Watson until after he was cleared of criminal sexual misconduct charges. 22 women accused him of sexual assault and harassment, many of them massage therapists. Throughout 2020, Watson allegedly made inappropriate comments, exposed himself, and forced the women into oral sex.
