Joe Budden Gets Backlash for Saying "I Hate Them Bts N***as" and "I Don't Want to See Korean-Sync"

On a recent episode of his podcast, Joe Budden said he hates K-pop sensations BTS and incorrectly assumed they’re from China.

“I hate them BTS n***as,” he said, as heard in the clip below. Pressed for his logic, he answered, “Do I need a reason? I hate them n***as. I don’t have to divulge my reason to you, I just hate them n***as. I don’t wanna hear that shit, I don’t wanna see them dance moves, I don’t wanna see you come down in the sky in a little umbrella. I don’t wanna see [you]...come from the audience and link up like Voltron and do all of the 98 Degrees moves. I don’t wanna see none of this shit.”

Without saying too much about why he doesn’t like the group, he went on to incorrectly say BTS were from China. “I know they big, I know it’s China, I don’t wanna see it,” to which his co-host Parks Vallely told him they’re Korean. “I don’t want to see Korean-Sync,” Joe said, throwing down another ’90s boy band reference.

It didn’t take long for the BTS fandom, known as the BTS Army, to catch on to Budden’s comments. Many fans zeroed in on his suggestion the group is Chinese, while others called him petty for speaking ill on something he appears to know little about.

Budden shared a few tweets reacting to some of the hate he got. “Like ima get bullied outta my music opinion lol,” he tweeted, to which a BTS fan suggested he never even mentioned why he hates the group.

When another user pointed out his comment comes across as xenophobic, he replied, “Oh stop it, I made a mistake and was corrected.” In a separate tweet, he said he was trending because he doesn’t like “assembly belt pop.”

Check out some of the reactions to Budden’s comments below.
