The new posthumous album from King Von is out now. 'What it means to be king'
Immediately following the gold-certified Welcome to O'Block from 2020, Von's estate and label Only the Family/Empire released two singles from the project: "War" and "Don't Play That" featuring 21 Savage. The latter song went on to become Von's most successful track to date, debuting at No. 40 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Video footage of the Kid Hazel-produced track was then released, featuring an animated version of the late Chicago rapper as he and his woman cruise through the city on their way to the studio. Von then connects with 21 just before the two rappers are chased by the police. The single has been streamed more than 16 million times on Spotify since it was released, and the video has been viewed over six million times on YouTube. A merchandise campaign has been launched as well.
The 19-song project features additional guest appearances from G Herbo, Polo G, Moneybagg Yo, Fivio Foreign, Dreezy, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, as well as King Von's mentor Lil Durk. In addition to wearing Von's O Block chain in the "Backdoor" video and getting iced-out memory tags of them together, the OTF label head honcho has frequently paid tribute to him.
