Despite having collaborated with most of the genres of music out there, Snoop Dogg is planning on joining forces with K-pop's biggest group very soon.
The Death Row legend announced that he will be collaborating with BTS in the near future on the red carpet of the American Song Contest on Thursday (March 24). Snoop has invaded the K-pop world before, as he previously cut a record with the South Korean girl group 2NE1.
“I’m going to let them tell you about it,” Snoop told The A.V. Club. “It’s official like a referee with a whistle. I love that entertainment world. It’s good music. It’s [a] vibe.”
“I make good music. They make good music. And we end up doing this. This is what it’s always about, bringing our worlds together.”
The five-member boy band has long been fascinated by Snoop Dogg and has expressed their desire to collaborate with the legendary West Coast rapper. BTS even paid homage to Snoop when they incorporated a Doggystyle reference into their track "Hip Hop Phile" from 2014.
Even in January, Snoop Dogg was not sold on the magnitude of BTS until his nephew showed him a video of the boy band, which he referred to as the "Asian New Edition."
“I got a group named BTS that’s waiting on me to do a song with them right now,” he said at the top of 2022. “And I’m trying to figure out if I got time to do that shit.”
The collaboration is expected later this year.
