Talib Kweli Teases Release of New ‘Black Star’ Album

Since the legendary hip-hop duo Black Star released their first-and only-collaborative album nearly 24 years ago, a follow-up has been teased many times over recent years, but it looks like things are finally coming together this time.

Talib Kweli shared a photo of himself and Yasiin Bey, the artist formerly known as Mos Def, on his Instagram over the weekend, asking his fans to keep an eye out for the duo's highly anticipated follow-up to 1998's Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star.

“The new Black Star album was recorded in hotel rooms and dressing rooms across the globe,” Kweli wrote in the caption on Saturday. “I love how my brother [Yasiin Bey] pushes me musically. #blackstarforever follow @blackstarkeepshining today…”

On the duo's official page, you'll find archived footage from the past two decades, including an appearance on Netflix's Kanye West documentary jeen-yuhs. Bey and Kweli have now been teased with new material featuring Madlib, who is said to be responsible for the follow-up to Black Star.
