Phase 2 has begun.
Saturday, February 26 marks The Weeknd's debut of The Dawn FM Experience, a fully immersive music special based on his latest album, Dawn FM. “I’m ecstatic to partner with Amazon to premiere the most elaborate live TV special I’ve ever done,” the “Out of Time” singer said in a statement. “Welcome to the next phase of Dawn FM—a purgatory otherworld where live performance, theater, and performance art collide for a night out at the club.”
The Dawn FM Experience teaser, seems to depict an older version of The Weeknd, who is featured front and center on the album cover, and was mercilessly abused by Abel himself in the video for "Gasoline."
The Dawn FM Experience merch capsule will go on sale at 12 noon PST/3 p.m. EST on the Amazon Music Artist Merch Shop the day before the premiere of The Dawn FM Experience, and an eight-track live EP featuring music from the special will be available for streaming on Amazon Music.
Dawn FM, The Weeknd's fifth studio album, which featured Tyler, the Creator and Lil Wayne as well as narration from Jim Carrey, came out in early January and quickly became Spotify's most-streamed artist of 2022 after earning 705 million streams within its first two weeks. The 24-song Global 200 chart was another Billboard record set by the solo male performer for the most charted songs in a week (24).
